St. Louis, Missouri

A picture, taken by Bobbie Beagley, of Tasha and IThe water lineOur final stop was in Saint Louis to see the really nifty Gateway Arch. We didn’t have time to ride the elevators up to the top (I’m not so sure if I would want to, anyway), but we did get to see it from both sides. Bobbie Beagley (our tour guide's wife) actually laid down on the steps leading up to the arch to take the picture you see on the left. She's a real sweetheart. The Mississippi flooded up over a road behind it and went partway up the hill towards it. Thankfully, the flooding was down significantly. Boy, it sure smelled, though. Here’s a picture of the waterline in the grass. What you can't see is that there's a street behind where I'm standing and a fairly large walkway on the other side. I'm glad we were able to stop--before we left, the flooding had closed the road.

All in all, this trip was amazing! I hope to be able to go back to most of these places sometime soon.
