Our last stop relevant to LDS church history was to Adam-Ondi-Ahman. Joseph
learned through
revelation that this area was where Adam dwelt after he was cast out from
Eden. He talked to God in this place and built an altar to perform sacrifices
unto the Lord in similitude of the Savior’s sacrifice. It’s very beautiful
in Adam-Ondi-Ahman, and the Spirit of the Lord is abundant. Adam-Ondi-Ahman
is its own mission, and the mission president here is the current prophet
of the Church, who happens to be Thomas S. Monson right now. This is where
Christ is going to appear at His second coming to receive the keys that
He gave to Adam before going to Jerusalem to save the Jews. The Church has
leased the farmland around here out to people—though, they have an unusual
clause in their lease. They’re required to move off the land within twenty-four
hours of the Church saying so.
While talking about this sacred place, it was raining. Once we prepared to step off the bus, however, it stopped raining. The view here is lovely. My mom met up with her aunt, who is on a mission here with her husband. She was very excited to actually be able to meet with her—we were about to pull away when she drove up. Of course, I forgot my camera in my rush to go outside and talk with her.
"Sorry...I just thought with the captain issue in question, I'd throw
in my name for consideration."
