Xiangtan is one of the larger cities in the Hunan province, known for its spicy food and claiming Chairman Mao Zedong. Chairman Mao was born in a small village about an hour away by bus from Xiangtan, and is a source of pride for the locals. It's in a fairly rural area, and the population is probably equivalent to the whole of Utah.
Jeff and I lived in Xiangtan from late August to late December. The locals were extremely kind to us foreigners, and we often felt like superstars around town and with our students. Xiangtan is a magnificent city, vibrant and pulsing with life. The weather is hot and humid in the summer and cold during the winter.
Sorry...I just thought with the captain issue in question, I'd throw
in my name for consideration.
